Update: New NOAA aerial photography added. To view the new imagery you must delete your current NOAA cache, located in your 'Cache\Earth\Hurricane Katrina Images\NOAA Katrina Aftermath Flyover Imagery' folder.

Update: New USACE aerial photography added. This layer is regularly updated, to view the new imagery you must delete your current USACE cache, located in your 'Cache\Earth\Hurricane Katrina Images\USACE Katrina Aftermath Flyover Imagery' folder.


This layer has all the NOAA imagery properly orientated and georeferenced with a resolution of 1.5' per pixel, and the United States Army Corps of Engineers aerial imagery of the Katrina aftermath with a resolution of 0.72' per pixel.


Installation:


  • Using the self installing exe -
    • Double click 'Worldwind_1.3_Katrina_Data_Add-On_1.0.exe' and follow the on-screen prompts.
    • When the installer has completed you are ready to run World Wind, once World Wind has loaded unselect 'NLT Landsat7 (Visible Color)' in the toolbar by clicking on it, the little black arrow above it should disappear.
    • Then click on 'Layer Manager' located on the far left of your toolbar, the Layer Manager menu will appear, tick 'Hurricane Katrina Imagery', and zoom in to view the affected areas.
    • To choose between the different photography available in this add-on click the small white arrow next to 'Hurricane Katrina Imagery' in the Layer Manager, a list of different views will appear, click in the center of any circle to select which view you want.
    • You may click the following link to view the Louisiana SuperDome in World Wind - worldwind://goto/lat=29.95&lon=-90.08&altitude=800


  • Using the zip file -
    • Copy the zip file into your World Wind 1.3 folder and unzip. into that folder, it will place the files in the right locations.

Note: The imagery is NOT yet fully done. We are still missing / waiting on some more meta data for the rest of the imagery. This meta data is how we properly align and tile the images.
